biography
Vivienne trained at The Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, graduating in 2002, where she won the James Westaway award for Excellence in Radio Acting. Following graduation she was immediately taken on as the Graduate Apprentice for a new ensemble rep at the Haymarket, Basingstoke, where she worked as a actor and ASM on shows as diverse as Alice, a Musical and a tour of a new adaptation of The Handmaid’s Tale, in which she played the role of Offred. As part of her work with the company’s Education and Outreach department she devised, assisted and ran workshops on Shakespeare in Performance, Stanislavski and Brecht.
She also worked as assistant director of the
Youth theatre on their hugely successful production of
‘Th Since then, she has worked mainly in theatre and has a growing list of leading roles in rep, including Tourvel in Les Liaisons Dangereuses, “gives a modern voice to her character…with a tact that gives vivid immediacy to [Tourvel’s] dissolution under…overpowering emotion’” and Bella Manningham in Gaslight, “…striking…dignified… well defined performance” (both for Theatre by the Lake, Keswick) as well as Minnie in The Daughter in Law for the Haymarket, Basingstoke: “Rowdon is splendid, full of energy and dignity…played with promise and vigour…couldn’t have been better”.

“Rowdon’s Farley is She holds a 1st class BA (Hons) in Journalism, Film and Broadcasting from Cardiff University and has a particular interest in photo journalism, in which she gained practical experience as part of an exchange semester to the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. She also gained a passion for feature writing, fiction writing and journalism as literature. However, her core work in the US centred on how reporting is affected by stereotyping and the unique role of foreign correspondent. She has retained professional links with the University and has published work in the campus papers. Her degree also involved digital storytelling, a project that now forms part of the BBC’s Telling Lives, allowing viewers’ stories to be told via the Internet and thus building community links in the regions. Vivienne worked as a researcher for the BBC before leaving to train at the RWCMD, organising and assisting shoots in Tokyo, New York, Belgium and Romania. She is also an experienced teacher and facilitator, working mainly in primary schools, encouraging child development through performing arts. She loves to travel and has undertaken recent explorations to New Zealand, Australia and the U.S.A. She is currently enjoying Bikram yoga and part-time writing in North London, where she lives with her partner. |
